Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does KindCycle do?
KindCycle is a full-service pickup and resale program for families who want to clear out baby and kid items without the hassle.’
We come to your home, collect everything your children have outgrown, and take care of the rest — sorting, selling, donating, and recycling responsibly. You get back your space, a share of the resale profits, and a donation made in your family’s honor.
What types of items do you accept?
We accept most baby and kid items in good condition, including:
👕 clothing and shoes
🧸 toys, books, and puzzles
🪑 furniture and nursery items
🚗 strollers, car seats, and gear (if current and clean)
We ask that items be gently used, clean, and safe. Anything that can’t be resold is either donated or recycled responsibly.
How does pricing and commission work?
Our pricing is simple and transparent.
Each pickup has a small service fee based on how much we’re collecting (starting at $125), and we retain 45% of resale proceeds to cover our full-service process — pickup, sorting, cleaning, resale, and donation coordination.
You keep the remaining proceeds, and 10–15% of every sale is donated to family-focused charities like Cradles to Crayons and Baby2Baby.
Why do you keep 45% of the resale proceeds?
Because we do all the work — start to finish.
Unlike consignment stores or online resale apps where you do the sorting, photographing, and shipping, KindCycle handles everything for you.
Our share covers the time and cost of pickup, cleaning, photographing, listing, donation management, and reporting — so you never have to lift a finger.
Do I get to approve what’s sold versus donated?
Yes! You’ll have the option to mark any items as “sell only” if you prefer, but we typically use our expertise to decide what’s most worthwhile to list versus donate.
You’ll receive a summary after processing showing what was sold, what was donated, and what was recycled.
What happens if my items don’t sell?
If something doesn’t sell after a set period (usually 4–6 weeks), we donate it to a partnered family charity or local shelter.
You’ll still receive credit for the charitable donation — so nothing goes to waste.
How do I know where my donations go?
Every family receives an impact summary after each pickup that includes:
Total resale earnings
Items donated and where they went
The amount donated to charity
How much waste was diverted from landfills
Transparency and trust are core to our mission.
When and how do I get paid?
Once your items sell, we’ll send your earnings via Venmo, PayPal, or check — whichever you prefer.
You’ll also receive your donation summary and impact report at the same time.
Can I schedule recurring pickups?
Absolutely! Many families choose our Seasonal Subscription — three pickups per year (spring, fall, and post-holiday).
Subscribers get priority scheduling, special discounts, and bonus donations on each cycle.
Do you offer tax donation receipts?
Yes — for a small add-on fee, we’ll manage and provide detailed receipts from our partnered charities, perfect for year-end tax deductions.
Where does KindCycle operate?
We’re currently serving the Greater Boston area, including Newton, Wellesley, Lexington, Winchester, and Needham — with plans to expand soon!
